I hope this email finds you well, and that everyone is having a great transition to Fall with kids back in school, cooler weather and some great sports to enjoy. Now that the 2021 pool season has come to a close, we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on what a great year Ridgetop has had, provide some updates, and gather some feedback from you!

I would like to start off by giving a huge thanks to 2021 Ridgetop Board members and key committee members. The 2021 board was a talented and dedicated group of folks who worked together as a team to make all the great things happen at Ridgetop. I am grateful for this board, and we are lucky to have each of you. Additionally, I would like to give a shoutout to our fantastic membership, and you are the ones that create the amazing and fun vibe that make Ridgetop the special place that it is.

2021 Recap

At the beginning of the year, coming off the 2020 COVID season, we set a goal to have a very strong push for signing up new members, and we set some aggressive goals in terms of overall membership and financials. I am thrilled to report that we exceeded all planned goals this year. We added over 60 new families to Ridgetop, and hit our county allowed maximum number of members. This was a huge milestone and enabled us to be able exceed our overall end of year budget goal. This type of financial performance sets us up for future capital investments and operational improvements for the club.

We had a great year with our aquatic programs, the swim and dive teams had near record setting participation levels this year, with almost 200 kids participating in swim, and over 40 divers. Along with high participation we also had great results in our JRAC competition sending over 75 swimmers and divers to the season ending JRAC champs meet.

The tennis at Ridgetop is more active than ever, our summer and fall junior clinics and camps have been at full capacity. As well as having multiple USTA, Suburban, junior JTT, and bantam teams playing throughout the year. We are widely known to have one of the strongest junior programs in the area which is remarkable for a club of our size.

Our social committee put together a series of amazing social events this summer including the new member fiesta, Memorial Day cookout, 4th of July celebration, and the Pig Roast. In addition to that we had Can Man 2021 tour (with the t-shirts to prove it), and multiple food trucks throughout the summer. I really cannot imagine that there is recreation club in town that had a more packed social agenda than we had this year.

Additionally, we were able make a number of key grounds related improvements and the club looks better than ever, we had a successful spirit wear campaign, revamped our website, and even made some great improvements to Snack Bar menu.

In summary, Ridgetop has had a great year, and again a big thanks to all the board members, committee members, coaches, employees, and other volunteers that make it all happen.

Parting Shots

With the closing out of the 2021 fiscal year this month, I am rolling off as Ridgetop Board President. I have truly enjoyed my time in this role over the past 2 years. I have been able to meet and work with a bunch of great people, learned a lot, navigated through some challenges, and had fun along the way. I really believe that we have accomplished a great deal over the past several years, and that Ridgetop is on the right track for the future.

Further, I would like to welcome Jeff Crook as the 2022 Ridgetop Board President. Jeff served in the VP role the last 2 years and has been very active and critical part of the board and club operations. Ridgetop is in great hands with Jeff’s leadership, and I know we have a great upcoming year to look forward to.

Hope to see you soon, and thanks again for making it a great year.

Ethan Edwards, Ridgetop president
